Kansas Street Closure - Outdoor Dining Returns Later This Month

RETURN OF KANSAS STREET CLOSURE ELEVATES OUTDOOR DINING EXPERIENCE IN DOWNTOWN FRANKFORT

FRANKFORT, IL, MAY 8, 2024 — The Village of Frankfort is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of the Kansas Street closure, set to rejuvenate the downtown dining scene and captivate both residents and visitors.

Beginning May 23, 2024, Kansas Street, spanning from Ash Street to Oak Street, will once again be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic. This initiative aims to transform the area into a pedestrian-friendly oasis, adorned with charming outdoor dining options, all set to welcome guests by lunchtime on Friday, May 24, 2024.

The reintroduction of the Kansas Street closure provides local establishments with the opportunity to expand their outdoor seating options, elevating the atmosphere for patrons keen on relishing their meals al fresco. Among these establishments are favorites such as Francescas, Fat Rosie’s, and Trails Edge.

Mayor Keith Ogle expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “We are thrilled to reintroduce the Kansas Street closure, a hallmark of the summer season in Frankfort. This initiative not only bolsters our local businesses but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among our residents and visitors.”

The closure of Kansas Street is scheduled to remain in effect until the week leading up to the much-anticipated Fall Festival, providing ample time for residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoor dining experience. The street will then be transformed for Frankfort Fall Festival, only to close again afterward, ensuring continued enjoyment of al fresco dining through October.
